Hair and headwear at Akwasidae

Throughout the world, hair(styles) and headwear are symbolic of religion, status, gender, the list goes on. At the Ashanti King (Otumfuo)’s 20th ruling anniversary in Kumasi, it was no different. Men, women and children came from near and far to celebrate the king and his Kingdom. They came clothed in traditional attires, some with an entourage of drummers, dancers, and guards - a buzzing display of culture. The crowd was filled with an assortment of colours and textures; and headwear and hairstyles were an unforgettable part of the conglomeration.
